A couple of basic questions (but I guess this the play to ask). If I bought an acr-pv73100 could I use it to back up my digital photos saved on a pc in a different room? The playon would be connected to my wireless router behind the tv, would I need to buy extra software?
Also, if I saved my DVD collection to my pc hard drive how would I then transfer them to the hard drive in the playon? Thanks for looking.

Yes the POHD or Mede8er has a Samba server which can mount the internal HD on the network.

Simply browse through network explorer in windows to the device and copy your files to it.

Rip your DVD's as ISO images using AnyDVD, or as DVD/MKV using MakeMKV and copy them across the same way as the photos.

I would (even if it is more money) look at a NAS solution.
using media players as backups is imo not the best of ideas

Thanks. So you're suggesting something along the lines of a NAS and a WDTV live?
