Playing MP3's on the Wii from SD cards

Can it be done? Apart from as the background music in the phto slide show.

If not, seems strange that it can clearly play MP3's, but you don't have the option to.

When Excitetruck comes out here you can play your MP3's while playing the game. Apart from that, I don't think there's any other way to play mp3's on it, yet. You never know though, nintendo might release a new media channel in the future. Although I don't see myself using it, would be better off using my DVD player for that.
