You can get the (in my opinion) excellent Denon 2910 for a little under £500 from places such as SuperFi.

I've just got a Denon 2910 and am using it with the Hitachi 42PD3000 through the component outputs, and the picture is excellent.

Would advise getting it from Creative Audio for £515 with a 2 year warranty and top class customer service.

I found that many of the Denon's are fussy about some DVD-/+R disks.

Whereas the Pioneer's are not, they play just about anything.

However, the 2910 seems to be a lot less fussy, no problems at all... so far.

    Silverback,

The 2900 I had most ertainly was, and therefore the 2910.......and this one hasnt been a problem......yet!!

I suppose the more sophisticated the player, the more fussy its going to be regarding the discs you play on it........

i was originally looking at upgrading my ns900 as that is a picky bugger when it comes to some discs but after doing some research i found there seemed to be a lot of "firmware`s" for the denons and that put me off.love the idea of no layer change though :) is that still a feature on the 2910?

Can I ask you what your previous player was and how better was the picture quality.

Paul, I had a Denon 2900 and went through 3 different machines before I got fed up with issues with a lot of discs not playing or freezing up randomly and a persistent problem with audio drop outs.

Eventually, Creative Audio put pressure on the Denon to give me a free replacement which was the Denon 2910, and I havent had a single problem with that player.

As far as pic quality goes, I find it not very different compared to the 2900, and I am using Monster Component leads to the Hitachi 42PD3000. I did use the Mark Grant cables bought from here, but they are far too bulky and kept getting disconnected so therefore had to change over.

Silver, there is about a second's pause for the layer change, but not on all movies, so while its not as good as the 2900 in that respect, its still tolerable!!
