I've purchased some DVD's (recordings of an event) and they do not appear sharp when playing back on my 40" Samsung LCD TV. The 'HTPC' is using an LG drive, and connected to the LCD via a quality HDMI cable. Playback looks OK on a regular 32" CRT. On the flat panel, the video appears blurry, and titles are jittery. Out of three discs (different sections of the event) one is worse than the others. When I checked the file sizes on disc, they were around 4.4GB, 4.2GB, and 3.3GB - though I expect that reflects playback time.

Is this likely to be an issue with the way the Samsung LCD TV handles upscaling? Any suggestions on how to address the problem?
