I have a number of videos copied to my HD as VOBs then converted to mpg files using Videoredo. They all play fine in MediaPlayer but if I use MyVideos in MCE I get the "Finished/Restart/Done screen which pops up a few times on and off, then the message "cannot play video".

Any ideas why MCE doesn't like these files?

Sounds like you do not have a codec installed to decode MPEG2 (whixh is dVD unless you change codec during conversion).

Its not a codec thing - thought of that.

It's something to do with the ripping software I think. Last night I started copying DVDs using MyVideos and they play back fine.

Just one of life's little mysteries.
