I recently ordered a disc in advance of release from Play. The disc is now readily available in the shops (all be it at an additional £5) and I have emailed Play about when I might expect to take delivery of my order.

The reply was plainly an automated response explaining that all
"... non-stocked items can take up to 28 days ....blah...blah.. blah".

Is there any known way of getting an answer out of them or am I just expected to wait/cancel ?

Have a look on the section of the website which has all outstanding orders. If it has been shipped then the delay is not down to Play, it will be the Post Office.

I agree with monkeyboy. Most of the delivery delays I have experienced with play orders have been due to the Post Office.

I think the orders come from Jersey or Guernsey which sometimes causes delays, as well as customs & excise.
