apologies if this has already been covered, i have had a look but the 'search' function doesnt seem to function from my work computer

doing a bit of re-plastering and i'm fine with the channels, but in a couple of places i had to make large-ish holes where there is nothing behind for nearly a foot - how do i go about creating a surface to begin plastering onto? (hope you can understand what i mean)

    tks

You need expanded metal larf* (*not sure about the spelling?). It's an form of lightweight aluminium mesh that can be plastered over.
