Plasma's and progressive scan....

Regarding plasma's....such as Panasonics etc.....do these require a seperate progressive scan/scaling device...or is the onboard circuitry up to the task. Or would it be better to bypass internal circuitry and use a HCPC?

It depends on how good the video de-interlacing and scaling engines are in the plasma's compared to the external devices you are considering.

Generally I've found that a good scaler or prog scan DVD player is superior at de-interlacing to the plasma itself. See my comments on other thread regarding HTPC's
