    Hi,
I am new to this forum, and have a question which may sound silly to most of you.

Last year, I bought a Panasonic "Viera" TH37-PE30 plasma TV for £2500 with Panny DVD-Recorder, etc... and also have Sky+

Now with the gradual introduction of "HD" is there anyway I can convert my "Viera" plasma TV to be HD compatible, or is my "modern" new TV gonna be "out of date" soon.

I can't afford to buy another viera that is "HD Compatible" when I have a stunning TV as it is, but just thought it may be possible to "upgrade" !!!

    Kind Regards........

    Sean !!!!!!!

    no upgrades available

check your manual to see if your tv accepts the following:

    720p @ 50hz & 60hz
    1080i @ 50hz & 60hz

then you will know whether your tv will be able to accept a HDTV signal

ps: ignore anything that says "HD Compatible" only go so a TV that says "HD Ready"

Also - check the native resolution of your display.

Even if it accepts 1080i or 720p, if it has a resolution of something like 850x480 , rather than a minimum resolution of around 1024x720, then you will still be watching HD converted to something near SD. Not that this will look awful - it just won't be "HDTV".

But it will look very very good...it may be sclaing down to the panels res. but the source its sclaing from is better.

Even the "HD Ready" have to scale hidef picture to the panel one way or another. Theres very few which are natively "HiDef"

Hi I own the Panasonic "Viera" TH42-PE30 and have just had Telewest's TV Drive installed. It's ouputting 1080 via component and I am blown away by the results! Some of the HD programmes via Teleport are stunning especially Pride. Normal (SD) channels are also very, very good - even the missus notices the difference!!! Upgrading the TV has now been pushed out of my mind, I'm more than happy with my plasma!!!

I doubt you'll be able to watch any HDCP material tho (Telewest movies?).....which is about the only downside to non-HD plasmas.
