Ok, quick lighthearted post. During the London riots last year it was repeatedly
said that rioters were walking off with plasma TVs. From the FT:
"Dalston: Plasma TVs top looters shopping list"
So criminal's have good taste, then. But, wait a sec... we know how much these
things weigh, we know how big the boxes are. I have to ask, is it plausible they
were running off with these very large, very heavy (> 30 Kg) boxes?
Isn't it much more likely that the media don't know the difference between a
plasma TV and a flat panel LCD TV?
And why have plasma TVs come to be associated with ne'er-do-wells?
It's almost like you have to be a criminal to get one!
