    Hello
    Can anybody help ?
I have a Hitachi 37PD5200 plasma which only has one scart connection which is being used for my NTL digi box.
I also have a Yamaha DVDS520 DVD player which I have tried to connect using a scart to 3RCA cable (RGB) but didnt work.
I then (foolishly) bought a set of quality RGA/YUV phono leads with a scart to RGB adapter - this didnt work either the picture was nearly there but all fuzzy !
My Hitachi AV2 is set to accept RGB and my DVD player is set to output RGB !
Thank you in advance any advice would be appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi Bobt47,

    Welcome to the forums :hiya:

I have a feeling you could be getting confused between component connections and RGB connections. A component (sometimes referred to as YUV) does use three coloured cables, Red, Green, Blue, but this is different from an RGB signal normally carried via a scart connection. The RGB signal output is normally carried over 4 or 5 cables. I've found the manual for your TV here and it suggests you can receive an RGB signal into AV2, but by using a scart to 4RCA cable. But I can't find a manual for your DVD player to see if it will send a signal over the 4RCA cables.

To help, can you confirm and answer the queries below:

    1) You have a scart to 3 RCA cable - this is normally only used to carry composite signal, but can be used if your DVD player output's a sync-on-green RGB signal, but given your reply, probably not :)
    2) You say you have an RGB/YUV phono leads, so is this a three to three RCA cables?
    3) What is the scart/RGB adaptor you have?

    Thanks

    Andy

Hello Andy Thanks for the speedy reply !

My RCA lead is indeed 3 plugs RGB to 3 plugs RGB !
The adapter I bought from TV cables UK (SKU YUV-RGB-SCART).
I will get back to you on the DVD specs when I get home !
NB: I think me Hitachi AV2 inport is only 3 connections !
    Many Thanks

    Hello Again
I have read the manual and this is all it states ??
    VIDEO PERFORMANCE
    RGB (SCART) output - 0.7Vpp into 75ohm
    &
    CONNECTIONS
    Video Output - Cinch (yellow)

    Hope this helps

If it is not possible to use the RGB cables - I have found a Svideo cable I could use, would this be any good or is it inferior ?

    Regards

i have pd42 5200, i think its the same panel but bigger, try this: connect rgb leads to av2, make sure av2 is switched to rgb (not component) in tv menu. get single phono to phono lead, any cheap thing will do, connect this to composite in on av2, and the other end to composite out on dvd player, this should give you the sync signal you need to stabilize the picture.
