    Hi.

I'm going to buy a plasma soon and thinking about <br />"Panasonic TH42PWB3" and "Pioneer PDP-502MXE".

My knowledge in these display units is pretty limited.

    Could someone give me advice?

Which one of those above listed model should I go for ?

I'm going to use the plasma with my Sony DVDPS-9000ES DVD player and my PC.

    Thanks.

Panasonic TH42PWB3 is a much better unit than the Pioneer PDP-502MXE, though that is better than much of the rest, or is it just a size thing?

I wouldn't buy at the moment at all, but wait for the w4 Panny model due out next month. There are 2/3 major additions to performance, like progressive scan capability on PAL and DVI input.

Wait a few months, I know it is tempting but you will regret it.

Panny are on route to the UK so you should be looking 1-3 months not 6-12. probably oct? Check with panny.

I can't comment on new models as I haven't seen them but when I researched Plasmas in Feb to April this year, the Panny was in a different league. I mean different. Nothing else was in the same class re picture quality. Quiet fanless design, great blacks and contrast.

Don't get hung up on resolution unless you use it as a computer monitor, even low res is great as tv.

Pioneer have launched their new PDP, last week I beleive, so the older 502 is now on discount, for around £7K.

It's pretty good, though the new one will be slighty better (well it wouldn't be worse, would it?).

It will benefit from an external video processor, you can easily notice the scan lines as jaggies on the 50" PDP's, so something like an Iscan Pro will be benefical, something we more or less supply as standard on the PDP's we install.

If you want the Pioneer 502 we can get you one.

    Nic, thanks for reply.

    You're right. It is tempting. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

The....new Panasonic's plasma is due out next month in UK or Japan?

I've heard that Pioneer's new models are coming out as well.

I have a panasonic 42... and Love it ! fankly the best purchase ive made in a long time... although the Mrs wasnt too happy that i spent more on a screen than her car ;o)

I did audition the pioneer.. but didnt think it as good.... as always, a better model is just around the corner... i waited for a long time to buy, but if you keep waiting for the next 'best screen' you'll never buy..

    just my thoughts ;op

    good luck!
