Thinking about buying a plasma and fitting it to chimney breast over fireplace.Little concerned about the heat coming from fire damaging plasma.Have seen pics of other people who have installed their plasma's over fires but just wondering if this will cause damage over time ?

Have a look at the thread entitled "Get your your plasmas out for the lads"

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78824

You will see numerous over the fire plasmas - just make sure you take precautions ie mantle find out how hot it gets directly above the fire etc

You might find the warranty will be null and void if it gets fried

    Regards

What I would do is leave a thermometer for lets say 24 hours in the place where you want to mount your plasma. Make a big fire in the fire place, wait a few hours untill everything gets realy hot and compare what You see on the thermometer with operating temperatures in the Panasonic pdf. Plus its always good to use your common sense You know? :p
