The other half has indicated a strong desire for a large flat screen to hang on the wall of our bedroom.

Far be it for me to disagree, however now I have to go about deciding what to get. One of the requirements (ideally) is that the unit could be used on a US voltage as we may be relocating overseas in the not too distant future.

Do any of the popular (ie cheaper :) ) models offer this? Are the transformers actually built into the screens or do some of them have an external "brick" delivering a set voltage to the panel, similar to laptop power supplies, if you know what I mean?

Please enlighten me, I'm wondering if I should try and steer her away from a 26" LCD towards a 42" Panny for a smidge over £2k (aside from the obvious inbuilt tuner issues). I'd rather have the bigger screen for the money, but then what do I know....
