I have spent a lot of time browsing in every AV store in the past week, trying to get some idea of what HD Ready tv to buy next to replace my non HD Philips 37PF9965. Despite advances in LCD technology, Plasma is still way out in front in my opinion. The absoute best I've seen was the Panasonic 37PV500 - it looked flawless on everything. Even fairly low rent satellite channels looked acceptable. With an HD feed it was staggering - and I've seen a few HD demos to compare with. Resolution doesn't seem to be an issue - the Panny being 1024*720. The only LCD which caught my eye was Philips - the 32PF9986 (I think). New generation of Philips (37 & 42") apparantly have 1920*1080 resolution. May hang on and have a look at those before deciding. I don't see the need to rush as prices can only go down further, and Sky HD won't be with us until at least March at the earliest. The What HiFi Sound & Vision Show in London in November should prove useful in comparing the various products.
