If it's for a PC display, particularly anything that involves graphics/pictures, your key driver is square pixels.

Look for a screen that's physical pixel resolution matches it's 16:9 aspect ratio -- at 50" you are talking 1366x768 resolution. Anything else will distort the shape of images.

Furthermore, to get the best of the screen you need to ensure that you have a graphics card that can display this non-standard resolution and you will need to user Powerstrip to set up a custom resolution of 1366x768 (very easy to do).

Finally, you may want to consider refresh rates -- like monitors the higher refresh rate you can get the better (less blurring on movement).

What's the application - who's looking, from where, for how long and what info are you looking to display.

Where is the source in relation to the display and what resolution and signal type is it outputting?

    Best regards

    Joe

    Joe,

    It will have 2 uses

    1. Boardroom on stand - 12 people max connected to a standard P4 PC.

    2. A repeater screen for the main training room with a projector acting as the main image - again connected to a standard PC

Not sure on resolution - any more advice would be appreciated

The source will be in the corner of the room, but connected via a number of available floorboxes

    Thanks

I use Fujitsu 5004 at home exclusively through HTPC. You can find the exact resolution settings here. This maps pixel for pixel graphics card and plasma. I use cheapish ATI Radeon 8500.

Plasma properly detects monitor sleep modes so it goes into stand buy when PC is switched off or goes to power save.
