Plasma & Fire

I have a question, since i'm new here and don't know much about technical stuff at all i'm afraid. My house rennovation is encompassing a cabinet unit in the lounge, which will have a hole in the wall type fire and plasma above the fire.

Now, i'm aware that the plasma shouldn't protrude out the same directly above the fire, since the heat will rise up and damage the TV (burn the pixels or something?) However, my thought is to bring the fire out and have the Plasma recessed back, thereby the heat rising would not touch the TV. Does anyone know if this should be ok, or how far back the TV needs to be etc?

How about some pics to illustrate? It sounds dodgy though, put a thermometer where you would put the TV whilst the fire is on - see how how it gets. Then compare this against the manufacturers recommended operating temperature

have a basic sketch but don't know how to add it into the post, sorry.

the problem is i can't really install the fire, then check the temperature, it needs to be built in now. Surely there must be lots of people that have plasma's over their fireplace, but with a mantle-piece in beteen?

Thanks guys, checked this out and it seems to be evenly split. So here's a question. Would having an LCD instead of a Plasma make any difference do you know?
