    Hi Folks,

I'd like your opinions about the extended warranties that are provided by most companies when purchasing a Plasma TV.

Have any of you taken out an extended warranty when buying a Plasma?

I will buy a screen in the near future, but i'm not sure if its a wise idea to purchase an extended warranty at the same time. Usually its about £300 for an additional 2 years.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Glenn

Well, like any insurance it's only worth it if you have to claim.

That said I have a 3 year warranty on mine, and will be about ready to upgrade to full HD by then so will probably be selling it anyway and you can normally get a bit more movement on the price if the salesman thinks you might be buying an extended warranty.

I also have my plasma on my house contents insurance as new for old, as in if it fell off the wall, got nicked etc.

How much are you willing to pay for peace of mind is the question:D

Another little snippet of info is if you do buy from one of the major high street stores, you can extend the warranty at a later date. Any time before the panels first birthday.

The Plasma is covered for repair or replacement for a full year afetr the manufacturers warranty ends up to a cost of £5000!
