I am about to take the plunge and go from CRT to plasma and would appreciate your opinions.

I've got my choice down to three.

Sony KE42TS2 or Philips 42PF9964 or Pioneer PDP433HDE.

I watch mainly action and sci-fi type movies. Input is DVD, Sky and TIVO.

    Thanks

    None of them.

I did the same 2 weeks ago and settled, after extensive testing on a hitachi pd423000e.

Just read the reviews and awards on the Hitachi web site. Did you get a demo in Edinburgh. I am in Fife.

As I was planning on spending £3500-£4500 I got an easyjet filght to Gatwick and visited Harrods. They had some on display about 15 panels.
An number of other big stores around london had the rest. spent a day playing on the tube and eventually bought from

Poggs, would be interested in where you saw the Sony as Harrods doesn't have that model yet (not that I'd buy there at those ludicrous prices!).

I really was more interested in getting a demo for the hitachi. I dont remember what sonys I saw, but as everyone was over £5000, they were so overpriced as to be discounted from my shortlist immediately. From my day out in London (4th April) the Hitachi was by far the best I saw.
BTW - the best store I was in for advice etc was in chiswick. But I cant remember the name. Something ethnic soundng though....

Thanks for the swift reply, but if I may say so I don't think that's a very good basis for suggesting quite forcefully to the original poster that he should ignore one or more of the models he'd shortlisted.

    Sure you are correct.
I cant remember the exact model of the sony but according to the chap in the chiswick shop, I think it was Kriss or similar, it was the brand new one released just a couple of days before @ £5499. I'm guessing its the one listed above, but I just cant be certain. What I was certain of is that the hitachi 3000e had a better picture and £2400 cheaper!
