I've read alot about the benefit of calibrating a plasma panel, using a DVD such as the video essentials disc.
However there dosen't appear to be enough ajustment on a normal consumer panel. i.e you can adjust contrast, brightness, colour and sharpness etc, but that's about it.
How would you go about ajusting the colour temperature and individually adjust the red, green and blue colours.
Unless you can alter all these other settings, how can you get the picture right?

I've set mine up using avia and if I remember correctly I'm pretty sure I can access all the settings you mention on my fujitsu panel.....do the options vary so much as I'm only accessing the user menus (I hope!!)
How much more in depth is a 'proper' calibration compared to using the known setup discs i.e. in my case avia and can it be subjective as I've heard it's expensive?
I'm very happy with the results I'm getting but of course there's always room for improvement????

And it's not just expertise and qualifications, though don't underestimate that, they have tools for this too. It's way too complicated without the gear or the training, you either stick to Avia or Digital Video Essentials, or you call the experts. Alastair, Joe and myself are up to our armpits in plasmas every day, it's still outside our skill set.

Indeed....having a set of spanners doesn't make you a mechanic. I continue to learn more about this most weeks. Adjusting all these paramaters requires tools and understanding. Also the behavioural characterstics of different displays may affect the procedures involved.

Nothing wrong with having a go yourself but, "a man's gotta know his limitations"

    Thanks Alastair and Martin!

Wsquared has given up doing ISF calibration. I just happen to be in Bristol in a couple of weeks time!
