After much lurking about to order viera 42" and tilting wall stand.

What leads do I need to connect TV to sky+ box? Scart I presume, any recommendations. These will have to be a bit long as screen will be on wall and other equipment below and to one side with eventually wall buried.

Also will be getting a new dvd and home cinema set up, again any advice on cables. Tried cable bit of forum but too highbrow for me.

Budget - well whats reasonable, ie at what point cant most people see the difference anymore

    Thanks

If you have sky+ and a sound system, save some money and get a PW6, you already have 2 digital tuners.

Dont have sound system yet, may be a while. Just like the ease of turning on and watching.

It's just as easy with surround sound, and you can get something reasonable with the change.

Considering you can get a PW6 for under £2200 with teh scart board, spend the differnce of viera price on amp and speakers. :)

Plus you will be able to use Hi-Def in 18 months too and wont have to upgrade the plasma.

Blimey now you have got me thinking. Was thinking of getting viera as JL agreed to price match at 2779 and 5year warranty. If PW6 2200 wont extended warranty take it close to pe30 price.

may take it near the price but if you are future proofing the PW6 is the way to go! bare in mind the Viera is more of a TV replacement and more of a family friend :D

So if I were to get PW6 what terminal board or other peripherals would i need?

I presume I would need and amp and speakers. Would eventually like to connect a DVD player so what sort of terminal boards are required ?

As I intend to wall mount screen is there any way that cables can be mounted at a distance so tha only one lead goes to screen apart from power.

    Sorry for so many questions.

PS do terminal boards fit into screen? sorry if thats a stupid question

OK, you do need an amp and speakers. If your room is not huge you could consider a Pioneer vsx301. This switches RGB scart, so you can connect 3 RGB devices to the screen, either by scart with a scart board, or get a JStech RGB to VGA convertyer, and do without a board. The other way would be to get a Yamaha 540 amp or similar, and a JStec RGB to component converter. This goes between the sky= and the amp. You then connect the amp to the screen with a cable with 3 phonos at the amp end, and a 15pin'vga' plug at the other. You can set the PW6 to accept component video on the 15pin socket. You have a spare component video connection on the amp to add a DVD player. The amp will switch audio and video for you, with 1 cable to the screen, again with no video board. We do both of these scenarios regularly, both work well and give excellent pictures.
