plasma burn: fact or fiction?

I am teetering on the edge of buying a plasma. But then I read something about being able to burn an image into my £5,000 plasma screen in as little as 20 minutes!!

With Channel logoS and various dogs etc over which I have no control, what happens if I watch a two-hour film on a station with no adverts and a channel logo? Like BBC 3 for example?

What if I want to play games on it? They always have something on the screen that doesn't change. And you can evaporate hours before you know it!

I am really doubting the wisdom of buying a plasma

Am I being paranoid?

Be careful in the first few weeks of ownership. I've not noticed any burn in on mine, but I do use it with a variety of pictures. And that's probably the key - don't use static images for extended periods of time (such as train times...).

All the best,

Dr John Sim.
