    Hi,

    I'm interested in getting the following amp;

    Yamaha HTR5630RDS

    Anyway, I was just wondering if I could place this above my current DVD player as I don't have a spare shelf for it.

    I've heard amps can get very hot so I was just wondering if it got hot ALL over the amp or just at the top. I can see grills at the top of the Yamaha HTR5630RDS so I'm assuming the air goes through the top?

    Click here for picture

    I wouldn't have anything seperating the two.

    I don't want to damage my DVD player but I don't have anywhere to put it otherwise?

    What do you guys think?

    Cheers,
    Chris

    If you have the height some blocks of some sort between amp and DVD would help (with weight of amp i would put it on top unless you have a very sturdy DVD player!) as long as there is an inch or 2 and space at front and rear should be fine! My amp has an 80mm Fan like a PC on the back!!!!(never kicked in despite DVD being on top! gets warm but not HOT!

    Well my DVD Player is a Pioneer 350 which is very slimline so I'm not sure I wold consider it sturdy.

    But as far as you now, I can have them on top of each other?

    It's just I remember about five years ago, my playstation was directly on top of my video player. All of a sudden it stopped working. Apparently, my video player had sucked all of the magnetic field or something like that from my playstation because it was directly on top. Sucked very much indeed!

    But I would assume things have come on since then :D

    VCR's have some real nasty magnets inside. Pio 350 i wouldnt put it underneath either (have a 444). should be fine on top of yam amp as long as you give it some breathing space.
