    There are mixed opinions.
Some people have no problem, but I had a nightmare with them.
I'd never use them again :thumbsdow

In fact, it should be cheaper from Beyond Television as they offer free delivery, whileas Pixmania appear to charge.

Ring & make sure they have it in stock first.
I've had an order in for a Sony 40W4000 since 1st Jan, they've taken my money & still no idea of a delivery date!!!!

If it wasn't for the price having gone up approx £170 everywhere else, I'd have cancelled

Assuming you're talking about pixmania, that's exactly what happened to me.

Ordered an amp over the phone. Was assured they had stock. Waited weeks, constantly being told it was on it's way. Finally cancelled and then they delivered 2 weeks later. They offered me a tenner as a gesture. I told them to stuff it and flogged the amp on e-bay, because I got one in the meantime from elsewhere.
It was the lying that did it for me :thumbsdow

It's worth remembering that Pixmania are part of the Dixons group, but are based in France.

My comment was about Beyond Television
...but whilst you're on about Pixmania, I would not touch them if they offered TVs at 1p :lesson:

Bear in mind that even though you have paid for the tv, Beyond TV can cancel your order at any time and refund your money if they are not able to get the tv in stock or the price has gone up significantly. I would be chasing this very hard with them as being a Sony dealer ourselves, we are not expecting any more of the W4000 model as the new W5500 is due shortly.

    I agree.

Best case is, they send you your telly after a while :smashin:

Middle case is they sit on your dough, taking the interest and refund you.

Worst case, they go tits up and you lose the lot (hope you used a CC).

The fact that everyone else has put the price up by that much, would concern me on it's own, to say the least.

I'd be on the blower, asking for my dough back.

Sorry for going off topic here...

Thanks for the info, have you any idea of dates / prices for the 40W5500?

I'm getting sick of watching a 17" TV, as I sold on my previous 32 incher after ordering the 40W4000.

Not yet, but will know very soon and you will find net dealers taking pre-orders with suggested RRP's already.

I've only ordered from them once and they were very good. I ordered a TV in the early hours of Saturday morning for delivery on Tuesday (they let you specify delivery day). Monday saw much of the country brought to a standstill by heavy snow and I abandoned hope of seeing my TV until later in the week. However, at 9.45 on Tuesday morning there was City Link at my front door with my telly in perfect condition. Can't complain at that.

Every online store, even the most reputable, have their horror stories. The comparison site Pricegrabber has a useful merchant review section which I looked at before choosing Beyond Television. They had 509 reviews with an average score of 4.58 out of five. Pixmania were about 3.5 out of five.

As for the Sony W4000 series, several online stores appear to have been "selling" these in the apparent belief that they'll be able to fulfil the orders in late February when they say they'll be getting getting fresh stocks. As Sony would appear to have ceased production of these models, I fail to see where these stocks are coming from.......

I've bought a few things from Pixmania, including a cooker which was damaged on arrival but they sorted out redelivery of a new one no problems. Their delivery service is also pretty good, in that you can ring up in the morning and they tell you your delivery slot. As mentioned earlier, they're part of the Dixons/Currys group, so obviously a big, well known concern.

I'd just like to add my two-penn'orth. I ordered a laptop from Pixmania and paid by Paypal. The money left my Paypal account immediately but then I received an email from Pixmania to say that there were problems with my details. I tried to contact them but it seems that somehow I managed to cancel the order (I wouldn't have done so deliberately due to some of the comments on here about it taking ages to get your money back). Anyway I received an email from Pixmania to say the order had been cancelled and that the money would be refunded. And it was! Within a few hours.

So not a positive experience, but certainly not a negative one.

I have purchased from Pixmania on two occasions. The problem is they are in France. Both times I got French instructions. I had to download the English instructions off the Internet.
This is o/k if you don't want to lie in bed reading the instruction manual in paperback form.
I don't know how you would go on sending things back to France.

I don't think I would deal with them again. They are not usually the cheapest if you look around.
