I think I have (maybe, probably..) decided on a Sony W12 package. Looks like the best price I can get this is around £225 from Pixmania. However, I can also get it from Dixons/Currys online at around £235.

I am thinking its worth paying the extra tenner from Dixons, so that its easier if I have any problems. Whats your thoughts?

Also, if anyone knows of a cheaper way to get the W12, let me know :)

Well, I found a discount code for PCWorld which takes the W12 to £225 delivered. So, if anyone thinks this is the wrong decision please speak up. I'm ordering today.

At the same price go with the UK retailer mate, you know there's less chance of distance selling regs not applying then. Bear in mind I could well be talking out my arse though - I'm just trying to give some reassurance :D .

Cheers, just placed the order now. £224.99 delivered with the 14 day returns policy, and the fact there is a branch 2 mins from my house make it a pretty good deal me thinks.

Good luck with it, I've got a W1 and you will *not* be disappointed - I love my Sony! And I've never said that before, normally I steer clear but the Sony just felt better in my hand - quick, great screen etc etc etc.

Make sure you get mem stick pro or you won't get 30fps video btw...video is really nice on it, much better sound recording than I expected. But don't expect it to replace a camcorder - it doesn't focus on moving objects properly, which I'd expect a proper video camera to do. AFAIK all digi still camera will have this problem for a while.

Thanks Mango Bob. I dont anticipate on using the video mode too much to be honest, its mainly going to be photos. As its an Xmas pressie for my missus, I am hoping she'll be impressed.

Neither did I, previous video was :censored: from my old digicam. It's worth the posher memory though, that's why I mentioned it - I use video far more than I thought I would. Video'd 10 minutes of fireworks display last month and it came out really well :D

Your other posts helped sway my decision towards the Sony.

Do you know what warranty comes with it? One year? I need to get my Barclaycard extended warranty sorted.

DJW, the best discount I could find that worked for me was £20 off at PC World. Happy with the deal anyway.
