Heard (actually read) from a knowlegdeable source: the service menu of PF9976 lets you choose Pixel Plus 2 only if the hardware support is there. The Pixel Plus chip (TBF24EF, "Eagle") must be of revision 1C or newer. Nice to know that I really have PP2 on my 9976 now.

Someone should now find out whether the 9976 also has AmbiLight power source and wiring and whether the lamps can be bought separately... The U.S. spec model 9966 has got AmbiLight so the odds might be good.

I remember reading that the panel manufacturer can be found in the service menu. Mine only claims to have a 37(!) inch panel, not a word about the manufacturer.

How do you activate PP2 on 32PF9976? I am able enter the service menu by pressing 123654. How do you change the values on the service menu?

    Rgds,

The service menu is only for information.

To access the "Installer" menu press 062596 and then i+.

Please be very careful when in here as there are rather a lot of settings that can be altered.

The setting to change to PP2 is in here.

Have fun noseying around but be careful.

I found it, thanks. I have 2 questions though:

    1. Does it really make any difference when you set it to PP2? I normally use Movie Plus mode.

    2. When I entered the service menu I noticed that the screen type was saying LCD 37" however my model is 32PF9976. Do you have the same setting?

Yes, this is common with the 9986 too. Weird.

Does anyone who changed their 32PF9976 service menu setting to PP2 feel the improvement (over PP1) is significant? I'm interested primarily in RGB feeds from a DTT set-top and a DVD to Ext1 and Ext2.

Also, anyone know if the 32PF9976 (FW v2.3) should output CVBS on Ext3?
I'm not able to record to a Philips VHS via Ext3, and I wanted to check before I buy a replacement scart cable.

    Thanks for any comments.

Just had a reply from Philips tech support. It turns out EXT3 is for input only.
