I have read of these.

Obviously they are totally illegal but I just wondered if they exist, what the going rate is for one and whether they actually work?

Oh and what sort of places people actually sell them at - my paper said car boot sales, is this for real?

    Cheers

A long time ago there used to be cards for the old sky analogue channel. They used to knock them out from time to time by exploiting the differences between the original cards and the fake ones. And now Sky have a system to tie each card to each box.

And so you will also find the same with ondigital, you pay, you might get a card sent to you, and it might even work for a time. If it doesn't don't expect much help from the trading standards people.

It's all on the net, but I'm not saying where!

the codes for the cards on digi get changed monthly . so if you could get a card the codes on that would need to be updated monthly .

so if you payed for a card it would be no good uless you knew somone who could update it for you . you are better off just getting a proper one

you know where you stand then. you pay your money you take your chanses though

dbloor, pal - if you do a search on Yahoo! along the lines of your original message thread, "pirate ondigital cards", you can easily find out everything you'll ever want to know! I agree with the above - I wouldn't buy a dodgy card because if it goes pop it'll be a pain getting it re-cooked, but you can get programmers and blank cards very cheaply and have a stab at programming them yourself - assuming you are criminally bent, mind, which of course no one on here is!

£60 and I know of one which as worked since March no problems.
I'd just like to add that I do not use or condone the the use of such cards. In fact I recently read that sky are mad as hell about the total breakdown of ON/ITV digital security. These pirate cards allow the use of not only sky 1 etc but also give all sports and movie channels including OnRequest. If this goes on unchecked it could treatern the future of Terrestral Digital TV in that Sky may be forced to pull the plug on ITV digital carring its services.

    one more thing .

they can change the entire encription system at any time .(just like sky used to)

you could go out now get a card get the stuff to upgrade it with then they could change things and send new cards out next week . you end up with a worthless lump of plastic

You could can also get a dummy card that links to your PC. You just update the codes on the computer software whenever they change.

My friend has had one of these for 5 years now, has given him free sky analogue, D2MAC and now ITV digital.
