Fairly new to all this, but want to update my ageing 5.1 system and was looking for a bit of help? Mainly for regular TV/DVD movie use and to link with my Samsung 950 through to my 32PF9986. Having looked around somewhat the above model looks very attractive and would be within my budget, just wondered if anyone had any thoughts, did a search and not much out there on the forum at the moment?

Also, is the THX thing a gimmick or worth buying into?

    Many thanks in advance

    Mark.

    Thanks mate,

this may sound a bit odd but I've downloaded several images of the unit front and rear and I cannot for the life of me find where the sub would plug into? There seems to be outputs for all of the other speakers but not that one? Im sure when i plump for it the manual would make sense of it all but just wondered?

The sub output is nect to the CD input to the top left as you look at the back panel. The "sub pre-out" is surrounded in white.

THX, to me, is a gimmick and makes the sound overly dull. The only time I have used it is when I had some M&K speakers on dem and they were far too bright for my liking. THX made the speakers more listenable (seeing as they were THX speakers, perhaps this is to be expected?)

Cheers, thanks for your help, just out of interest is there likley to be any major leap in changes to the AV market in the near future? Just dont like to buy into something that maybe totally different in a few months? I'm not sure if/how HD could affect it I guess if at all?

    Thanks again

    Mark.
