    Help

I've approximatelty £750 to spend on renewing my old amp.

Any feed back on the 2 amps mentioned would be appreciated.

I note in the specs for the Pioneer it has 7 channels, have I read it correctly that this will allow me set up a 7.1 configuration with the speakers.

    Thanks in advance

Hi lez. This months what hi fi has a head2head reveiwing these amps, both are very very good amps, not much between them at all.
I am in a similar position as yourself and already owning a sony(940c)cant fault sony's quality.

However personally i would go for the pioneer(THX auto set-up)etc.
Others no doubt will differ in their opinion.
My recc would be buy the mag, read the head2 head, get down to a dealer and arrange a demo, then decide.

    Nice dilemma:D

Lez ... the only way to decide in terms of sound is to go and listen. They (and the Denon 3803 and others in the price) are very similar in terms of sound quality but they do have differences between them.

Apart from that its down to comparing the feature lists, appearance, etc and deciding which you prefer.

And don't forget Onkyo's TX-SR700E - possibly the best sub £1000 movie performer or Arcam if you want something a bit more restrained that can do movies & music

In my view the pioneer sounds better but the sony's build quality is in another league, depends where your priorities lie.

I should get a look at this 555ES then because my 2011 is built like a tank.

I suppose im really talking about the feel of the sony, all the controls and the remote they just feel well made but I hated the controls on the pionner.
