PIONEER VSX-AX5i or DENON AVR 3805 - Which is the BEST?

I have a PIONEER 868iS DVD Player and a SIM 2 DLP display.

Can the PIONEER be used as a "processor" using the pre-outs to feed another preamp and poweramps for the manin left and right channels?

    Thanks guys!

Does the PIONEER VSX-AX5i have the ability to be used as a "processor" using the pre-outs to my hi-fi system?

    ANYONE?

    Thanks.

as a companion to the 868 the AX5ai is the best option especially with the iLink audio connection.

not sure about the processor part though...

HI, I have a pio ax5i, a 868 and its excellent. I use the pre-outs of the ax5i to connect to a amp.

In this (above) configuration does the AX5i still do auto set-up correctly and give you genuine DTS and DD5.1EX etc etc?

    Thanks,

Yes, the ax5i is used as processor and the front speakers are then powered by a mf amp, the central and surround are managed by pio.

    Hi Kocl
I'm looking at possibly doing the same setup as you. Why have you decided to get another amp for your front speakers.. is ax5i not powerful enough..

I have front speakers power up by an external amp for one reason (stereo), the ax5i is only average in stereo. Because i have external amp with bypass i could enjoy better sound with the front amplication in home cinema.
