Just purchased the Pioneer VSX-923-K receiver with a 7.1 set up to replace my old Sony receiver. Plugged in my Panasonic DMP-BD75 region free blu ray player, set the audio to bitstream and switched off secondary audio within the BR player settings and low and behold, the Pioneer will not decode any discs that are encoded in DTS HD, Dolby True HD or any 7.1 audio tracks so all I get is regular Dolby digital and DTS and it down mixes 7.1 audio to 5.1. The Panasonic is set up to handle Dolby True HD and DTS HD audio.d I have a Philips BR player that is not region free which I hooked up to the pioneer to test if the Pioneer was defective but the Pioneer decoded the HD and 7.1 audio from the Philips no problem. The Panasonic does have very few options to tinker with.

Any help with this will be truly appreciated...
