Pioneer vsx 918, strange sound loss

Hello

so basicly its driving me insane

my center speaker basically randomly stops outputting sound, if i run the setup tone test, there is a very slight noise coming from it, i have tried rewiring everything, including replacing the wires themselves

but here where its get crazy....

if i connect the center speaker to the left output on the amp and connect the left speaker to the center output on the amp, it all works fine, apart from the speakers being the wrong way round....

so all the speakers work? and all the outputs on the amp work?

if then switch the cables back around so the center is the center again, ect, its does not work !! ??

any ideas thanks
