This is more a warning to people than a question or query.
I just brought a new Pioneer VSX-917, even though I couldn't find any reviews, I took a leap of faith.
Big mistake!!!
Amp for a Sub £400 model looks and feels cheaper than a £200 model. The sound is lazy and doesn't really sound precise.
But the biggest issue is, the thing gets very very hot. You can't touch the top after an hours use and the heat passes 20cm up and then though the cabinet shelf into the DVD player. Theres no fan to cool it down and after an hour at -30db volume the thing cuts out claiming an overload...
So learn from me, poor amp, poor design... Should have brought Denon
