I have recently made a change of receiver. For many years I had the Pioneer combination of Ax5Ai receiver and DV-868 AVI, with an i-Link connection between them. The DVD/CD player could handle DVDs and SACD discs, and the link between the two meant everything worked fine. It was brilliant. But for a whole load of other reasons to do with the need to connect other equipment and to make things easier for other people to use, I had to ditch the Ax5Ai, which was a shame. The new SC-LX87 seemed to offer everything I could possibly want.
Having connected the old DV-868 to the new SC-LX87 with an HDMI cable (to the DVD input), DVDs play fine. But now SACD discs don't playback. So it seems the ten-year old system could handle automatically something the brand new receiver can't.
I'm not great with understanding how to connect stuff. It took me a very long time with the manual, staring at the back of the new receiver to see where things should connect and I think I have it right. Does anyone have any hints on how I would use the DV-868 to play SACD discs through my new receiver?
