Hi everyone, I have the dreaded UE22 fault. I’ve sourced two revised BGA chips and had a company solder them onto my hdmi board. I’ve tried updating the firmware via the internet and USB, but it fails each time at 20%. Help would be invaluable. I’ve tried various different USB sticks, but to no avail. I’ve included an image of the current software version (note the 3x asterisks) which has come up after changing the chips. Can an expert help me resolve this issue?

On the hdmi board, there is a flash memory chip that stores firmware for DSP (bga chip) This memory chip need to erased, checked for bad sectors and reprogrammed with working memory dump file.
During firmware upgrade, each sector is written with the new code and then verified.Your chip might be dodgy, hence it stops at 20%.

Thanks for this. The chips were x-rayed by the company that installed them for me, so I am assuming they are Installed and working ok. Is there special stuff that a Pioneer service expert could do to rectify the issue? It would be nice to save this receiver.

As you can see, missing 3 digits in your case, supposed to show DSP firmware version. The two replaced, BGA chips are Digital Sound Processors aka 1st DSP and 2nd DSP. Each DSPs has its own memory chip.

Pioneer expert should know, that EU22 indicates on the communication problem between dsp and memory chip. Since both DSPs have been replaced, but you still have no sound, then he should focus on both memory chips. I reckon, the few first line of code is corrupted (bootloader) and DSP wont start.
As I said before, to fix this, he needs compatible programmer and two working copies of firmware ( .BIN files) for each memory chip.

Ok, many thanks for this. So my next question would be can anyone recommend a Pioneer specialist who can handle this type of work. I live in London.

H Kamil, I have sent the board off to you today. Please let me know when it has arrived. Thanks Chris

Am I right in understanding someone can actually repair my LX-85 with the UE22 error? I'm also in London.

Hi. I'm still working on Chris Davey's board. I've found that second DSP isn't booting, despite reprogramming memory chip. I can now install/reinstall latest firmware via usb, but UE22 still comes up due to faulty 2nd DSP. He has sent me another chip, which I solder it onto hdmi board as soon as I get some free time. If that process goes well, then yes your amp can be fixed.

Awesome! Good luck and please keep me updated.

Thanks.

Hello Kamil.
I have a sc-lx75 with same problem error1 on updating stops at 20%. Is there a way to send you the HDMI board to you ?
Thanks in advance

Hello Everyone!

Does anyone have the .bin files in the flash memory? It looks like mine would work, we just changed the memory in it, but unfortunately the content was damaged! Also, would you be interested in where the latest firmware can be obtained or downloaded from?

Thanks in advance!
Best regards! Balazs, from Hungary

Do you need .bin file for dsp? If so, which one because I belive this model has 2 dsp chips.
