I think the problem is to do with the units shutting down and even smoking (but apparently no chance of fire) dont know if its just UK models but the ad said recievers sold from NOV 2000 onward (I see from your profile you are in the Netherlands so you could be ok ,,, unless you have a UK unit)

Recall means they need to go back to the manufacturer or service agent for modifications

Yep its true if you own one of these above machines, purchased from last November your gonna have to say bye bye to it, but its not all bad my friend purchased the 859 just over 2 weeks ago. After a couple of calls to Pioneer they sorted out to pick up his 859 and replace it with the 909, not bad huh, of course he's over the moon, they swapped them over today, I'm sure you'll see a gagging review of it on this very thread soon [IMG]

So can you have smoke without fire then? Pioneer seem to think so!!. They did have an Advert in the Mail yesterday, and they were keen to down play the potential seriousness of the problem.
If you have one of the affected units, then DEMAND an upgrade. After all it will be YOU who has to spend time disconnecting it from your system and then getting it back to a dealer not Pioneer. This all takes time, effort and petrol!. You have all invested your money & time in Pioneer, and for them to release a product with a fault such as this is unproffessional in this day and age. So get on the phone to either the dealers or Pioneer HQ, and complain, make fuss, be awkward. You will get an upgade if you are prepared to be a pain in someones neck.
Oh my god!, I think i'm turning into Ann Robinson!!!!....I am the weakest link-goodbye!!

I though it was a European recall, but i may be wrong..

There would be nothing wrong in calling your home country Pioneer office and asking 'nicely' if this is true..

Hey Ruwan, I read the recall info in a local paper & it said that MOST of the units were sold in europe, so check it out!

    ------------------
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit.....it's the only way to be sure.
