I have currently got a pioneer PDP 434 plasma but have trouble plugging an xbox into the tv. I have physically plugged it into the AV4 at the front and tried the other AV sockets using the red/white/yellow sockets. BUT the picture is too far down on the screen...I have tried adjusting the width of the tv.....4:3 - 16:9 etc but this only adjust the width not the height. I have even tried adjusting the settings on the Xbox itself, but this still results in the same problem. The xbox works fine and the picture is pefectly centered on a standard tv, but on the plasma is doesnt do this! I have moved the position of the display up and down, but still this does not work....any suggestions at all?

    Help would be much appreciated

    Thx
    Alex

Presumably then you're using the most basic of video connection; a single yellow connector?

Have you tried an S-Video or component connection?

I don't have an X-Box but my PS2 connected to the S-Video port on the front and the component (AV3) ports on the back gives a perfect picture.

    Hi,

No I have only used the standard cables with the gold plating on....Do you think the problem could be to do with the cable? The picture quality is great but it is just the alignment that is bugging me!

    Hi,

Sorry, can't really help you here other than to say that I just plug my xbox into input 4 and the picture is fine. All centered ok.
But you should be able to adjust the position on the plasma

    Home menu -> options ->positions.

Also make sure you set the XBOX to widescreen from the dashboard (options > video > widescreen)

Set the aspect on input 4 on the 434 to FULL

just tried all the settings....still no luck even when changing the position. Do you all use svideo cables?

    I might invest in one

I use component but S-Video would at least be a step up from composite.
For the sake of a few pounds it's got to be worth trying.

    Alexed,

My cable has composite and S and it makes no real difference to the picture I get or the screen position.

What I'm waiting for is a High def kit for HD component to get even better picture.

If you have an un-modded pal XBOX, you'd be better off getting a converter to scart RGB if you want a better picture.

But I think you should get your screen position problem fixed first, you may have to call out the pio boys to fix it.

Just bought the s video cable for a fiver....the picture is now fine and centred! It seems strange that this problem occurred only with the standard video connection! Anyway cheers for all ur suggestions....saved me a long call to Pioneer I think!

    Al

    Glad to hear it.
You should have noticed a significant improvement in PQ too.
