Pioneer PDP507XD vs Sony KDL 46X2000

Hi,

With Sky HD being fitted next week, I have been out looking for a new HD TV - I currently have a Panasonic 42pe50 which is being moved into the bedroom. After many hours reading the threads on this forum, and multiple magazine purchases later, I had set my sights on the new Pioneer 507 and after a demo was all set to go for it. Sky HD is superb as was SD, and I think it will be a great all rounder for Sky HD, SD and my X-Box 360.

I then popped into another shop on the way home and came across the Sony X series LCD - I had read about this and after seeing a demo of the 46 and 52 screens was very impressed. HD is stunning as was a the demo of the film 'The Wild' - it really looked fantastic, but as expected I felt SD was not as good as the Pioneer. Sky sports HD looked very good displaying rugby and football, with very little motion blur.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to demo these sets side by side so am driving between the two shops - with two viewings on each set now, I am still unable to decide between them! The HD quality on both I felt was fantastic, but the Pioneer better for SD. I have not been able to demo an Xbox on either set.

Has anyone managed to demo these sets side by side? I am tempted by the Sony for it's 1080 resolution, but hopefully someone on here may have managed to demo these sets side by side and 'really' compare their abilities before making a decision.

I have seen the Sony 40x2000 next to the 507 and as soon as there was movement (not necessarily fast) the Sony was a poor second. both sets were showing the same hi-def feed. The Pioneer picture also looked a lot more natural and filmlike to me.

Thanks for the reply. I am edging towards the Pioneer, as it is a cracking set and would probably suit me better.

Was very impressed with HD on the Sony LCD, but without seeing them side by side it's hard to make a call as to which gives a better picture from the same feed!
