Hi all, this morning when I turned on my Pioneer PDP 436 XDE I had the following message,

The aerial cable has short-circuited. Check the cable and plug in the AC power supply again.

So I turned off the power and disconected all cables and re set up also using the option of turning the power off for the aerial in the menu settings.

The more worrying issue I have is that when all power is off, I now have a solid black line all round the screen of about 5 pixels deep which I have never noticed before. This is also present when turned on in any mode. I purchased the unit on the 23rd December 2005 so warranty expires today at midnight.

Contacted Pioneer and they are closed until 2nd January.

Any ideas on whats happened and has anybody had the same problem?

    Many thanks.

My panel never uses 6 columns of pixels either side & 3 rows at the top & bottom of the screen meaning they are always black. Is this what you mean?

I don't quite follow how you have these black areas when the screen is switched off - surely the whole screen is black when the power's off?

When the power is off the whole screen is dark grey to black, but the pixels in question are jet black as the bezel, I am sure after owning this for one year this has not been the case, but i stand to be corrected. Are your pixels jet black when powered off around the outer edge ?

You could Send them an e-mail today and post a Special Delivery letter...

This way you have proof that the fault was within the warranty period..

I can confirm those pixels around the outside are darker than all the other pixels when the screen is off so I don't think you have anything to worry about there

Many thanks for looking, I was starting to get a major panic on there, paranoid now about the warranty. I can't believe it's taken me a year to spot this, and it gets cleaned every day

    Gixer.

Did resetting all the connections sort out the aerial short circuit message?

I've just changed my set up around as I've bought a new DVD player and I'm getting the same message when I turn my display on. There are no issues with images but....

My Warranty expires Mid Jan so your post has got me paranoid

What causes this message? I got it when i turned mine on when i got back from work. My warranty runs out in september, so havent really got anything to worry about for now. I switched the panel off unplugged the aerial then plugged back in and it had gone?

I know its a little late but that message is nothing to worry about. You have somehow got aerial power switched on. This outputs a small voltage on the aerial cable to operate a masthead amplifier, not much call for that in this country. Your TV will work fine with this error or alternatively switch antenna power off in the setup menu.
