Hey guys been looking for a plasma and have noticed that the Pioneer PDP435FDE is now only £2700 at my local Richer Sounds...

    http://ws4.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PION-PDP435FDE

Now I think this is meant to be the 'best' if there is such a word, plasma on the market at the moment, and its meant to be HDTV compliant therefore future proof ?!?

Could anyone who has one of these or knows about them give me any more info advice on this TV before I take the plunge ... i.e. whats it like with xbox, footie matches, also any issues with screen burn or any other problems?!? let me know guys cheers ;)

Consider a 435-XDE if you can afford it.

and it's my first plasma screen so was nervous about spending 3K on a TV...

I managed to pick up the screen, table top stand, speakers, dvr320s and a really nice Alphason stand from Comet for £3100.

Not my ideal store to buy from, but when you consider the ticket price of the items were over £3650, I think I got a decent deal.

As for the screen, it did take a couple of days to get used to the different type of picture vs a CRT, however, once I played around with it for a while, it did improve and has continued to do so.

I would say that you have to be prepared to play around with the settings, if not, then don't bother, because I find myself changing settings very slightly all the time.

I have my DVD connected via component and it looks stunning, Xbox looks fine, although I will be investing in a component cable to improve it further.

The first thing I watched was football on Sky Sports, and to be honest, it looked terrible, but turning off all the processing settings made it loads better. Contrast and brightness levels really need to be tweaked to get it looking right.

As for screen burn, I've probably been overly cautious with the screen so I've had no issues at all.

I resisted going for the XDE as I was tight on budget and didn't need the PC input and other additional features.

Overall, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it 100%

Put the unit on standby.Press the channel info button and wait 3-4 seconds. Then press left,up,left, right and then the orange button that puts the panel to standby. The panel should switch on displaying the service menu. Enjoy!

One button at a time. It is tricky and it does take a bit of time. I have done it on my 505XDE so it definately works. Although it took me a dozen attempts.

    ianrush,

make sure you are pointing your remote at the sensor on the actual screen (bottom left on 435). I had the same problem until I pointed the remote directly at it. Hope this helps!

oh and 435 fde - quality. Not had sky hooked up yet so can't tell you about that, but dvd and PS2 are excellent!

Ah, right, so very similar to our HDE's but less the FV Tuner.

Must admit the brushed ally remote feels classy & looks nice.

I too love the remote and was pretty shocked by the cost cutting when I first saw the 435FDE in Currys.

BTW, Chuck, how many 0's in google again?

    *cough* I don't know ;)

The remote control, both in terms of looks and functionality is all to often forgotten or dismissed when buying a panel, it was quite important to me when I was looking around. Not sure I'd really want a black remote for my new screen.....

Obviously I wouldn't have put it above PQ etc etc
