    Hi All.

Has anybody ordered and received a Pioneer PDP434HDE from John Lewis yet. I ordered mine at there Nottingham store on Monday the 13th of October and was given November the 10th as a due date. Starting to get desperate as my trusty 29” 4:3 Sony has just gone pop! Also can someone please tell me the dimensions of the displays cardboard box, I need to know if it’ll fit in my car stood upright!

    Cheers!

Got them to price match a print advert from Dixons @ £3999.99 (think they cocked up somewhere!) with desktop stand and speakers. I was told I would get the 5 year warranty so well chuffed. just waiting for the call!

That's a really good deal, I wonder if they will also allow the staff discount after the price match cause I know someone who works there!! What was the price without the price match just for interest?

    Cheers

    What advert?
Are Dixons still doing his price?

There are a few places doing the screen @ £3999.99 so Im sure JL will match them, but that Dixons offer is great!!!

    Yip,

Its the Big one with SALE on it (Beside the door in most of the stores) , it also lists the PAY Nothing until 2004, but it would appear that it ends this weekend, as it is listed as the October Sale.

When did you phone the Bluewater branch as I phoned a couple of weeks ago and they didn't have a clue !!!

I spotted the Dixons leaflet while visiting a friend in Mansfield, I think he said it fell out of a sunday paper. It has "Big Screen SALE" buy now pay october 2004 printed on the front and is newspaper size. The Pioneer is there at £3999 next to a Sony 42TS2 @ £4499. Doesn't say anything about a limited offer!

It does say something about while stocks last, so the stock may mysteriously disappear, as a mate picked up one their glossies for TV's and it lists the Pio for £4500 (just the screen)... its a crazy deal, no-one else seems to be doing a deal that good at £3995..

These are the panel dimensions. I think he was more interested in the packaged size as he would leave the panel in the package while transporting (as I would urgently recommend)

I called JL BW on Weds and was told then.

If this Dixons offer is still on, it looks too good to miss if JL will price match!

    frozendexter,
Which JL did you order from?

Just phoned Dixons in Southampton and they have no record of the £3999 offer. Their price is £4499. Anyone have the printed ad from Dixons and have a scanner to hand???

Ordered my 434 from JL on 10 October with an estimated date of 7 November.

Saw a 434 on demo in Southampton this week and it had one of the poorest pictures I have seen on a plasma. Am working off the assumption that they did't have it set up correctly!

I've just been called as well.

MTJ. I wouldn’t worry to much about PQ, I saw the screen at the Manchester Hi-Fi show on various feeds and it was very impressive.

I need definite dimensions on the screens box now cos I’ve got to pick it up in my car!

    Any tips on transportation.

Well if it's anything like the 433HDE the box is huge.

I doubt you'd get it in a standard car as it would be too tall to sit on the back seat.

I don't think it would go in an estate either as it needs to stand upright - you cannot lie it down.

I would say that a small Escort sized would be about the right size or an MPV.

    Cheers, Lee

I think I read a good post on here (possibly from Joe Fernanrd) about having adequate insurance when picking up a plasma yourself. Almost certainly your car insurance would not cover it, nor, presumably, would your home insurance, should you have a wee bump on the way home.

On the matter of JL price matches, surely if one John Lewis store has sold a plasma at a reduced price due to price matching, all other JL stores should at least match this price (effectively pricematching with another of their own stores).

    hmm,

Sounds logical , but as always if there is a loss of profit involved one could see why they didn't want to do it..

I Talked to the Oxford street Branch about the Dixons deal and even if I showed them the brochure they would still have had to pass it on to the undersell dept which could take up to 5 days.. so the deal would have expired by then... so bad timing I would have to say.

However has anyone tried to get them to match LEConcepts as they have it listed for 4299 and they have stock and they have a store that sells for this price , I will hopefully be trying this tomorrow... will advise of result when I hear..
