Hi, have recently purchased a Pioneer PDP427XD which i am very happy with, however i have a media centre pc with HDMI out which goes to the TV via a HDMI cable, i have connected a optical spdif output cable from the optical out from the tv to my AV amplifier so i can get 5.1 sound, however i get no sound out from the amp, i have tried another optical cab;e with no joy. Just wondered if anyone has had simular problems or knew if i was doing something silly.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Cavin

My understanding is that the optical out on the TV is only for DTV output. To get 5.1 sound from your media PC you would need to connect the PC digital output directly to your amp. You cannot use the optical out on the TV as a pass through.
