I'm stuck between the Pioneer PDP-505HDE and the Panasonic TH-50PHW7B. Can anyone give me an unbiased opinion and are both screens HDTV ready?

I can only say that the Panasonic is incredible, the blacks are almost like CRT.

The Pioneer seems washed out, you are looking thru a grey filter, other thing is that the Pioneer got some cheap implementation of the panel, they don't have glass all the way.

Pioneer is HD-Ready, but that's the only good thing.

The Pioneer lacks flexibility also, with the Panasonic you can do whatever you like and feed it native signal thru a scaler and such......

You are comparing oranges with apples.

In my opinion the Panasonic kicks ass when it comes to the quality of the picture.
