Pioneer PDP-436XDE Resolution

Hi,

I'm interested in buying a Pioneer PDP-436XDE after reading numerous rave reviews about it. The review on this site states that it is capable of 1080p HD standard, but a friend tells me that this is impossible due to the max screen res only being 1024x768, with 1920 x 1280 needed for 1080p.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Ta.

Beleive it will accept and display 1080p format transmissions etc but down scales the resolution.

I had the same question a few months back.

Thanks. Obviously this affects the display of the transmission then?

Question is more: would you SEE the quality 'loss'. I can assure you that even on SD plasma's like the Panasonic's, HD content looks amazingly sharp. I really don't think you'd see THAT much of a difference on a native HDTV screen, except when you get up-close.
