Hi, I was wondering where I could find an idea of how much my plasma TV is costing me in electricity (both when on and when in stand-by mode). I've found the figures for most electrical appliances in unit terms and a standard TV allegedly uses 1 unit for 3 hours viewing so I was wondering whether plasma is much different.

If you really want useless facts......................

The 435 xde uses 336w when running,ie 1 unit of electricity every 2.97 hours. It uses 1.7w in standby,ie 1 unit of electricity every 24.5 days. The 435 fde is a whisker more economical at 330w running and 0.9w in standby. Unfortunately neither compare well to my 21" crt which uses 49w running,ie 1 unit of electricity every 20.4 hours. Then again it isn't so good on standby using a huge 4.5w,1 unit every 9.25 days!

So,save the planet, sell your plasma
