    Guys,

The Pioneer 434/504's have a dedicated subwoofer output phono connection on the AV Media box. Is this signal designed to bolster the existing speakers?

i.e can I add a small subwoofer to the basic stereo speakers to get a better "fill" in the lower registers?

I'm presuming this is the case and that this output is somehow fed with signals <= 80hz ish for an add on sub?

    anyone know??

    Thanks

Sorry dealmaker i don't know for sure but what you have said is my understanding. I don't have the speakers as I didn't need them but although they might sound adequate there is only so much you would be able to get out of a speaker as flat and big as they are.

The subwoofer out would duly reinforce the bass although from what I have read I don't think fancy technology or circuitry is invloved.

I would imagine that not too many have been wired this way due to them being used in dedicated AV set ups.

Guess i's easy enough to try once I get it installed.

I have a 7.1 setup in my dedicated Home Cinema room so I'm not that bothered about "surround sound" for the news at 10!
