Leigh, i was under the impression that thread is for settings, not an owners thread for general discussion or questions about the 7th gen pios. Thanks though.

Thanks to you all............ I was looking for some info on running in settings etc for a Pioneer PDP-427OXD as I am in the process of changing from a Panny PX60 to the Pioneer. Panny has lots of purple snakes and I'm really not happy with it. Its a shame really cos Ive got a Panny TX-32LXD500 range and its excellent on all sources.

So really are the Pioneers any good......? from what I have read they are  are there any thngs I need to be aware off...?

Thanks for all your help:)

I've had mine for almost 2months now, havent had a single problem with it, people have complained about the panel buzzing but i have not experienced this. I'm guessing you've already seen it for yourself, PQ is really good once its set up, handles SD content well compared to other screens. I've had no problems with retention or burn.

The settings i used for run in are in the following thread
http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433402
the ones posted in the settings thread are for after run in.

NOTE: Just for future reference, the settings in the thread above are lower than need be, i realised after having the screen for sometime that it is alot more resistive against burn and retention than i initially thought. I played it safe as at the time of posting there were no threads or guidance on the pio 427.

Thanks VKara...yes I have seen a demo and I tried a DVD which IMHO was far better PQ than than the PX. Also the styling is alot better than the Panny.

Looking forward to the new arriaval next Wednesday  and saying goodbye to the dreaded purples snakes :hiya:

Thanks for starting this thread matty. :smashin:

After years of humming and arring i decided to take the plunge and buy my first plasma. I've become an avid fan of this great forum, spending hours reading various posts, i eventualy went for the pio 427, especially after finding out that it is available from JL for £1599 (thanks Leigh :smashin:)

The big box is delivered Jan 2nd, and will no doubt need all the help i can get, running in etc.

(BTW matty, notice you are also in Nottingham)

Ok Guys, i know this thread start by matty looking for a pio 427 owners thread, since there isn't a general owners thread for these 7th gen models i reckon we should turn this into one. What you think?

Didn't know in which thread to post this

I've been browsing & some retailers sell the PDP-427XD with a table-top stand.

Officially the TV set comes without any mounting options.

Any I was just wondering if someone can confirm what the JL package has.

From the picture on the John Lewis website I can only assume the TV comes with the silver-finish stand that does not swivel ?

On the other hand EmpireDirect sell the TV with the stand in black which is the swivel version I assume as that's what the TV is standing on in-store.

From what i know JL do the tv with the normal fixed tabletop stand and empiredirect do it with the black swivel stand. I thought the black stand looked better, so thats what i went for.

Yeah, that's why I ask.

I think the black stand blends in better with the rest of the set. And it also swivels which can come in handy

The Philips LCD I returned also looked smashing in black but it had this great big silver foot at the bottom :(

Then again if you can get it from JL for £1600 with 5yr guarantee & free delivery does the silver stand matter ?

Totaly agree with you J80FAB, i might be tempted to buy the black swivel stand from Amazon after getting a bargain from JL. :D

Im not fussed about the swivelling and my centre speaker is greay/silver as well so that will blend well with the stand, hence why im not fussed and ordered form JL, but i know where your coming from with blending with the screen better

Give your local JL a ring and ask them to pm JL Kingston at £1599.

Have a look on ebay. Do a search for 'Pioneer Stand' and loads come up brand new :smashin:

Leigh_1973 I too have silver speakers with my home cinema system so I understand the point about having a silver coloured speaker right at the foot of a black-coloured stand :D

Of course the centre speaker can be positioned elsewhere if possible therefore revealing the full glory of the black swivel stand

The black swivel stand really does go well with the black finish on the tv, i had some trouble getting hold of one when i got my tv, rather than just get the silver one, i waited until i finally got hold of one in black.

I got a black glass unit aswell, so really looks slick  , with the silver bottom edge of the tv, silver dvd player, amp and center speaker it all works well and looks sweet  .

Oh and it is a fairly hefty piece of kit  , was bit concerned about putting it on the glass shelves, luckily the unit i got has black metal frame running under the glass shelves.

i'd guess motion on fast games or games with aggresive camera pans will be much better on the pioneer plasma as LCD's even the best ones still have motion blur problems.

i hate motion blur, it gives me a headache and makes me feel sick.

Try using anti-static polish to clean them, works a treat! It can go a whole week before having to clean it.
