    Hey all

Quick question. I have purchased a Pioneer NS-DV77 from John Lewis and upon asking them if the DVD System was Multi Region I was told that

"Multi Region Players in the UK are Illegal"

Is this true? as I have seen them advertised in many High Street shops. This leads me to my main question

Can my Pioneer accept Region 1 Discs?

and if not how do I go about making it Region free?!

    Any Ideas...

    Thanx

Pioneer DVD players are not usually able to be hacked from the remote, but they can be made multi-region via a hardware mod from the usual sources ( www.techtronics.com etc. )

AFAIK it is not illegal to sell multi-region players in the UK, but the group that control the licencing and production of most of the key component parts of the DVD players insist that region coding is adhered to as part of the deal. This is why there is an on-gojng debate with the Chinese producers since they pay no royalties on the DVD players they produce and are extremely casual about region coding.
