Would I notice any difference in picture and audio via HDMI between these players from blu ray?

I understand I would lose USB functionality by switching to the Pioneer.

I suspect the only person that can really answer that question is you. :)

Are you also planning to change your AVR to a Pioneer model ?

I guess it depends what you mean by better DVD up scaling. The QDEO video post processor has certain traits. The scaling algorithm has a tendency to create or exaggerate existing image artefacts in addition to applying a certain amount of inherent processing i.e. adaptive noise reduction. Depending on your preference, display size and viewing distance these traits may be more of less of an issue.

That's why I post on here to find out stuff.

I do intend to get a Pioneer amp soon, I am also considering selling the Audiolab as I rarely listen to cd anymore.

Maybe Oppo would be better for music?

I guess it depends on your performance goals with regard to CD. Only you can really decide.

It is possible to bypass QDEO processing if it doesn't meet your performance goal by using HDMI 2 on the Oppo for video.
