Pioneer high-end Blu-ray player: BDP-95FD

Pioneer has announced its new high-end Blu-ray player, to be available Stateside in mid=October. The BDP-95FD features full 1080p output, including 24fps mode, internal decoding of Dolby Digital Plus, bitstream output for Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master, HDMI 1.3, xvYCC support, a "Home Media Gallery" function which allows streaming of content over a home network via its Ethernet port.

It will cost $1,000 in the US. No details of a UK launch date or pricing yet.

It's called the LX70A in the UK and has been discussed in many other threads already.

Not so sure about that.

I thought the BDP-LX70 was the Euro version of the BDP-94HD.

There's another model going around as well, the BDP-50HD(?). Difficult to tell them apart. The look the same front and rear, and have much the same specs.

The only difference between the LX-70 and LX70a is the HDMI output has been upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3.

The Pioneer Elite BDP95 is a whole new player and will be the first to pass DTS-MA over HDMI.

Not true. From Pioneers website regarding the LX70A:

"We'll be introducing our newest Blu-ray disc player, the BDP-LX70A, throughout Europe in October this year.

The new player now features bitstream output for
both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio
high definition audio codecs."


The Pioneer rep has also confirmed the model number for the UK (70A) and said that LX80 (originally given to me) is the Jap machine.
